The Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games brought together more than 1,800 young athletes from 78 nations across 81 events. As the first Winter Youth Olympics hosted in Asia, the Games aimed to promote unity, cultural exchange and the development of the next generation of winter sport athletes.
Team Ireland fielded four athletes across three sports: alpine skiing, freestyle skiing and luge.
In alpine skiing, Eábha McKenna produced Ireland’s strongest result with 26th place in the women’s giant slalom, while Finlay Wilson recorded several personal-best performances, including 27th in the men’s slalom.
Thomas Dooley represented Ireland in freestyle skiing, making history as the country’s first competitor in the Youth Olympic dual moguls event and finishing 18th overall. In luge, Lily Cooke achieved 27th place in the women’s singles competition.
