Team Ireland participated in the 2005 Winter EYOF in Monthey, Switzerland, continuing the country's presence at Europe's premier winter multi-sport event for young athletes. The Monthey Games featured the broadest winter programme to date, including the introduction of curling alongside the established alpine and Nordic disciplines. While Team Ireland did not record a medal-winning performance, participation at Monthey formed an important part of the athlete development pathway that has continued to support Irish involvement in winter sport.
