The 11th Summer European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) was held in Trabzon, Turkey, from 23-29 July 2011.

Team Ireland produced another outstanding EYOF performance at Trabzon 2011, winning seven medals across athletics and swimming.

The star performance came from Ruairi Finnegan, who won gold in the boys' 1500m, controlling the race from the front and confirming his status as one of Ireland's leading youth athletes. Athletics contributed six medals overall, with Síofra Cléirigh Büttner winning silver in the girls' 1500m, Karl Griffin taking bronze in the boys' 800m, and Ben Kiely securing silver in the 400m hurdles. Additional athletics medals came through strong sprint and middle-distance performances.

In swimming, Brian O'Sullivan captured bronze in the 50m freestyle, adding a valuable medal to Ireland's tally. 6 team members from Trabzon went on to become reprensent Ireland at future Olympic Games; Athletes Siofra Cléirigh Buttner, Sarah Lavin, Marcus Lawler, Greg O'Shea (who competed as a senior in Rugby 7s) and cyclists Eddie Dunbar and Mark Downey.
