The Vuokatti 2022 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOF), originally scheduled for 2021 but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, took place in Finland.
The event brought together young athletes from 46 European nations competing across nine winter sports and served as one of Europe’s most important development competitions for future Winter Olympians. Ireland was represented in alpine skiing and figure skating.
Elizabeth Golding was the Team Ireland flagbearer for the Closing Ceremony of the European Youth Olympic Festival in Vuokatti, Finland. The Dubai based athlete, with Dublin and Wicklow roots was the first ever figure skater to compete for Team Ireland in an Olympic event.
