A range of planning meetings were held with LOCOG officials including some venue tours.
Discussions revolved around updates on LOCOG policy on the schedule for sports test events, athlete village location and athlete services within appartments/townhouse options, LOCOG facilitated arrival and departure policy , LOCOG and Irish Team transportation routes during Games time,and media arrangements for OCI and journalists at sports venues and at the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre. LOCOG facilitated a visit through Olympic Park were they saw great progress on the development of the Olympic Village, and sports venues for athletics, swimming and cycling in particular. The group also visited the London Excel centre and Greenwich Park, venues for Boxing, Judo, and Equestrian sport.
Stephen Martin, CEO, Martin Burke Sports Director, and OCI press officer Jack McGouran were joined by sports council officials Finbarr Kirwan and Paul McDermot to ensure ISC are fully aware of how the Games operation works on the ground. AAI’s Patsy McGonagle joined the delegation on a visit to St Mary’s Twickenham, the proposed training facilty for athletics.
