OCI support for Athletics Ireland in Portugal

Olympians such as Paul Hession, Thomas Chamney, Olive Loughnane and Jamie Costin have access to warm weather and top class facilities and are also taking time out to work with Stephen Martin OCI on issues that impact on their planning and performance over the incoming season.

The interventions have been supported and enhanced by coaches attending the camp.

Stuart Hogg , coach to Paul Hession said that “the OCI’s off track performance planning sessions are something the athletes have appreciated and engaged in, and will help current and next generations in preparing in a more focused and systematic way” He added,

“I work very closely with my athletes and need them to communicate with me on a regular basis. The sessions and planning tools being worked on will especially benefit athletes who are working with coaches based overseas “

” We have been coming to Portugal at this stage of the season for a few years now, and i appreciate the AAI on their organisation and the fact that they are using additional experts to come in to the camp and engage with the athletes off track performance planning, review and evaluation techniques”
