Opening of European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, Baku (AZE)

The 2014 European Championships are now officially opened in Baku, Azerbaijan.  The world’s best gymnasts will compete for the first time at the newly built National Gymnastics Arena.  This competition is one of the most important events of the international calendar.

President of the European Olympic Committees, Pat Hickey was in Baku to attend the opening of the Championships and he delivered a speech and said “Indeed this magnificent, brand new, purpose-built venue will have a wonderful legacy after the European Rhythmic Gymnastics, as it will become the venue for 6 Gymnastics disciplines during the 2015 European Games”

He also congratulated the President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Association who is also the Chair of the Baku 2015 First European Games to be held in June 2015 on the development of Gymnastics in Azerbaijan.

In one year, on June 12th the first European Games will be opened in Baku, Azerbaijan.
