Paddy Barnes (Boxing) represents OCI at National Flag Raising Ceremony in Croke Park

Paddy Barnes two time Olympian represtend the Olympic Council of Ireland at the National Flag Post-Primary Presentation Ceremony in Croke Park today as part of the State’s programme to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Easte Rising.

It was a very special ceremony with 600 post primary schools present.  With young people at the heart of the centenary programme to learn more about the history of friendship and peace symbolished by the National Flag.

The ceremoney was hosted by Minsiter of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys in partnership with Thomas Meagher Foundation in the presence of the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht made a special presentation of a National Flag to Paddy Barnes as Olympian.   Pat Hickey, President OCI and Martin Burke, Sports Director were also present.
