Qingdao ready to stage International regatta

As the athletes’ center, media center and other land facilities as well as water works such as the floating dock have been completed already, the marina now can meet the requirements for the upcoming sailing competitions. The staff of the organizing committee have all entered into their posts.

The committee comprises of city operation, games operation and security centers whose functions are closely linked. The Municipal Government of Qingdao has worked out a complete set of city operation outlines and the rehearsal had been done by the end of July.

With an aim at a successful regatta, work in the areas of transportation, accommodation, accreditation, medical service, catering, logistics, spectator service and others has been progressing in full scale. Procurement of equipment needed for the games is expected to be completed by August 17.

Up to date, 466 sailors and 302 boats from 41 countries and regions have been attracted to participate in the sailing event. They will compete according to the rule adopted at the 2005 annual meeting of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).
