Olympics Day 11

Triathlon: The first Irishman to compete in the Olympic Triathlon, Gavin Noble finished 23rd in the event

He finished over three minutes behind the winner – Alistair Brownlee.

Sailing: Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan have finished 16th in race 9 of the men’s 470 class. They move up to 25th in the overall rankings. There is one more race to go in that class, but they are certain not to make the medal race.

Race 10 begins at 1315.

Athletics: Derval O’Rourke qualified for the women’s 100m hurdles semi-finals with a fourth-place finish in her heats yesterday.

The first three in each heat qualified automatically, however the 31-year-old’s time of 12.91 was enough to see her through as the fastest loser.

O’Rourke runs in the second semi-final at 1915 – she will be in lane 3

Boxing: A convincing 19-8 win over Ghana’s Duke Mikah in the Round of 16 put Michael Conlan into tonight’s flyweight quarter-final.

The St John Bosco clubman goes into the ring against Nordine Oubaali of France at 2100. A win will guarantee him at least a bronze medal.
