Rio 2016 Chef de Mission Seminar

The Olympic Council of Ireland Chef de Mission Kevin Kilty  is in Rio attending a Chef de Mission Seminar in advance of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Over 200 countries are represented at this important event for the Rio Organizing Committee.

The visit  includes Rio 2016 management meetings and an opportunity to visit sports specific venue sites including the Olympic Village.

Yesterday discussions took place to lobby for the Team Ireland  location within the Olympic village, as in previous Games within a short distance to village dining and the transport mall.

Whilst in Rio the Olympic Council delegation will gather further intelligence to assist with Rio 2016 operations.

The delegation have also had meetings in Rio with representatives from Uberlandia , the  Team Ireland multi sport training base.

Countries such as Belgium, Poland and Serbia have now also shown an interest in Uberlandia as their preferred training base.

Ireland along with Team GB were the first National Olympic Committees to agree training sites ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Athletics, Triathlon,Swimming and Road Cycling will be the main sports using Uberlandia.
