Rory Morrish is Ireland's Flag Bearer at the Olympic Closing Ceremony

“Our athletes can hold their heads up high for their achievements at the Games”, said Ireland’s chef de mission Clifton Wrottesley. “To gain Olympic qualification is an honour in itself, but our athletes, all Olympic first-timers, put in exceptional performances in the really tough competitive conditions here in Turin”

“Rory epitomised the upbeat Irish spirit – he worked very hard from his base in Norway to make the Irish team, he performed for our country with pride and passion and was a huge contributor to the Irish team’s excellent morale. He will enjoy the honour of being Ireland’s flag bearer at a ceremony which celebrates the huge success of these Games, one that sets the standard for the next Winter Games in Vancouver in four years time” Clifton concluded.
