Luge
About Luge
Luge is a standalone Olympic sport (not a discipline of Bobsleigh, despite sharing the same track). Athletes race feet-first, lying on their backs on a small sled, reaching speeds of well over 100km/h and relying on subtle body movements to steer. Ireland's first Olympic luge competitor was Elsa Desmond, who made history at Beijing 2022, finishing 33rd in the women's singles.
