About Volleyball

Volleyball has been part of the Olympics since 1964, contested both as the traditional indoor six-a-side game and as beach volleyball, a two-a-side format played on sand that joined the programme in 1996.

Indoor volleyball is played in a best-of-five-sets format, while beach volleyball is played to the best of three sets, and both formats enjoy strong global followings.
