Team Ireland Rio 2016

Kevin Kilty Team Ireland Chef de Mission will host a Team Leader Conference  on the 9th,10th October in Dublin, an important step in Team Ireland’s preparations for Rio.

A major amount of work has already been completed by the OCI on behalf of the National Federations since the end of 2012 London Olympic  Games and excellent relationships have been established with the Rio 2016 organising committee.

This has also involved opportunities for small groups of performance directors to travel to Brazil, with the next group of PD’s scheduled to visit Rio, Sao Paulo, and Uberlandia in early August 2014, which will coincide with the Sailing test event.

The OCI conference is aimed at team leaders and coaches and designed to provide updates on all aspects of Rio planning,  together with shaping policy on key issues, and continuing to build on the positive Team Ireland performance culture and environment established in the London Olympic cycle.

The OCI wish to widen the information flow and Olympic learning in the 2 years prior to the Games to include support staff, including coaches, science and medical personnel working within the sports high performance programme.

The second Performance Medicine and Science conference will be held on December 5th and 6th, 2014. The theme will be ‘Optimising health to maximize performance’.
