Team Ireland’s Jonathan Caldwell has won for the first time on the European Tour, after winning the Scandinavian Mixed, in Sweden on Sunday afternoon.
The Team Ireland scheme, supported by Sport Ireland, supports Irish professional golfers in establishing themselves in their professional careers and in achieving their potential.
Speaking after Jonathan’s win, Golf Ireland CEO Mark Kennelly said the victory showed the value in the Team Ireland Golf Programme.
“Watching Jonathan win this afternoon, shows the value of what we are trying to do. Funding went up by €50,000 for 16 of our best male and female professional golfers in 2021, and seeing Jonathan’s impressive final round shows the quality of players we have in the country.
“I want to congratulate Jonathan on behalf of Golf Ireland. Having represented his country with such distinction as an amateur, it’s fantastic that he carried the Team Ireland logo on his arm as he earned his first European Tour win.”
