The Olympic Flame has been lit!

At a ceremony in Olympia, near Athens, the Olympic flame was lit using the power of the Sun. As soon as the torch was list it was handed to Greek tennis player Panonios Orestis who in turn passed it to EYOF Chief Executive Pirjo Puskala and the Chair of Organising Committee Pekka P. Paavola. The actual flame was then transferred to a miner’s lamp so that it could be transported safely by air to Finland.  The torch was extinguished and will travel alongside the flame to Finland where it will be re-lit and the torch relay to Tampere will begin.
