European powerhouses Russia and Ireland have been training and sparring in Chekhov outside Moscow.
The Irish squad also included world and European youth champion Joe Ward, Ray Moylette and Jason Quigley
No scores were kept in Thursday’s Test match, which brought the curtain down on what Ireland head coach Billy Walsh described as a very productive training camp.
Walsh added that his team looked forward to working with Russia again in the lead-up to the 2011 AIBA World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan next autumn.
The AIBA World Championships will act as the first qualifier for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Following the Baku World Championships there will be one further Olympic qualifier for European boxers at a date and venue to be decided.
‘The training camp was a fantastic experience for the squad and a real eye opener for the young members of our squad and for the older ones also,’ said Walsh.
‘Today’s Test match went very well and we’re very pleased with the performances of the entire squad.
‘They all acquitted themselves very well. They’ve been training and sparring with the best team in the world for nearly two weeks and that experience can only stand to us.’
