Winter sports planning for 2009

 

Whilst the chance of 2010 Olympic qualification for the Irish Curling Team is no longer possible, they met  Stephen Martin and sports psychologist Ciara Losty in Glasgow yesterday and targeted the European Curling Championship in Aberdeen in December as their main event in 2009. The team discussed the best way of maximising Olympic Council funds and avail of a multi disciplinary support package proposal.

Irish Curling are also in the process of retaining the services of Canadian Ron Meyer as chief coach.He has been a major influence in the improvement in skills and tournament play and has indicated a desire to stay involved in the Curling programme.

The Council also discussed proposals to identify young curlers at home and abroad to ensure continuity of the programme.
