Winter Youth Olympic Games Lillehammer

Gary Skinner represents Ireland at the World Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer.

Gary who is Ireland’s only athelte at the age of 17, he competed in his first day of  competition in Lillehammer, the Super Giant Slalom on Saturday.  The Alpine Centre is situated at Hafjell.  There were 55 competitors in the race and Gary was bib number 47 .  He finished the course and gained 171 FIS points and was 8 seconds behind the winner.    Congratulations to Gary on his results, it is only his 3rd Super Giant race since he started competing.

Day 2 of competition – 14th February

Super Combined which is a combination of Super G and Slalolm.  Gary wore bib number 48 and in the first run of Super G he finished in 39th position gaining him 131 FIS point.  In the second run, Slalolm, Gary finished overall in 29th position.  Giving him his first Super Combined FIS points of 191.

Day 3 and 4 will be training days in Giant Slalom and Slalom for his next events.  The next competition day is Wednesday 17th February.
