BIOGRAPHY

Jake Passmore represented Ireland in the men’s 3m springboard diving at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, becoming only the third Irish male diver to compete at the Olympics.

He finished 21st in the preliminary round, missing out on the semi-finals by just 2.25 points. Passmore was born in Bradford and is based in Leeds, where he trains at the City of Leeds club under coach Marc Holdsworth alongside multiple-time Olympian Jack Laugher. He qualifies for Ireland through his maternal grandmother Elisabeth Barker, who is from Dublin, and has competed for Ireland since the age of 10, never having considered representing Great Britain.

In 2022, aged 16, he became the first Irish diver to win a medal at a World Junior Championships – silver in the 1 metre springboard at the World Junior Diving Championships in Montreal – and also won bronze at the European Junior Diving Championships that year. He made his senior international debut at the 2023 European Games, finishing 10th. Two days after his 19th birthday he received the call confirming his place at the Paris Olympics, having qualified based on his 17th place finish at the 2024 World Championships in Doha. He became known for juggling as an unusual warm-up routine at the Games.
