BIOGRAPHY
Natalya Coyle represented Ireland in modern pentathlon at three Olympic Games – London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
At London 2012 she finished 9th, becoming Ireland’s first modern pentathlon representative at the Olympics since the 1980s. At Rio 2016 she finished 6th. At Tokyo 2020 she finished 24th.
Coyle grew up in Tara, Co. Meath, and was a member of Meath Hunt Pony Club. She took up horse riding before being introduced to the other disciplines of modern pentathlon and began competing internationally at the age of 16. She secured her place for London 2012 by finishing 21st at the World Cup Final in China, having entered that competition ranked 29th in the world.
Across her career she reached the World Cup Finals on nine occasions and won two World Cup silver medals, as well as two World Cup Finals titles in the mixed relay alongside Arthur Lanigan-O’Keeffe.
