Conor Lyne competed for Ireland in the men's giant slalom and slalom at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, serving as Ireland's flag bearer at the opening ceremony. He did not finish the giant slalom after falling midway through the first run, and finished 40th in the slalom out of 43 finishers who completed both runs - a result he described as the toughest race of his life, having competed through a shoulder injury sustained in training the day after the opening ceremony.
Lyne has Irish parents and moved with his family from England to Logan, Utah at the age of four, when his father took a job in the dairy industry. He began skiing at Beaver Mountain at five, joined a competitive ski team at around eleven, and started the process of representing Ireland at fourteen. Both his parents are Irish and his family has roots in Hospital, Co. Limerick and Brandon, Co. Kerry, where he spent his summers. He graduated from Logan High School in 2011 and subsequently studied at the University of Utah.
After his Olympic career he worked as a photographer, travelling to 21 countries for a project aimed at deconstructing stereotypes of people around the world.
