Sam and Chloe Magee are through to the last 16 at the US Open GPG in New York after beating Hock Lai Lee and Eva Lee of USA in straights sets. They now face top seeds Maneepong Jongjit and Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand for a place in the quarter-finals.
On a good day for the Irish, Scott Evans followed up the mixed win with a victory over No 16 seed Petr Koukal of Czech Republic. Evans’s opponent in the last 16 is the No 2 seed Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei who is world ranked No 22.
