Baku is shaping up well for the inaugural 2015 European Games. Its important for athletes to feel comfortable in the Athlete Village and for each National Olympic Committee (NOC) to create their own high performance environment.
The Baku Athletes Village (AVL) is located in the north-west part of Baku, a short walk from the National Stadium and National Gymnastics Arena.
The AVL will provide athletes and team officials with a residential environment that is secure, comfortable, friendly and stress-free; a “home away from home”, which enables residents to focus on their preparation and competition, and to enjoy their Games experience.
Athletes and team officials will be accommodated in 13 newly constructed permanent buildings, ranging in height from 8 to 13 levels. The buildings contain apartments with 6 or 8 beds
There are 16 types of apartments with 3 to 4 bedrooms per apartment. Bedrooms vary in size from 19.6m2 to 40.6m2
65% of the AVL residents will have access to 1:4 bathroom to resident ratio, and 35% of the AVL residents will have access to en-suite bathrooms with a 1:2 bathroom to resident ratio
Shared Recreation Centre spaces will be provided on the first floor of each building. These spaces will have soft furnishings, televisions with Games feeds and free internet access .
