Bobsleigh girls getting a big push from fans

Claire Bergin, the brakewoman, has been getting loads of supportive emails and calls from many of her former schoolmates at Muckross College in Donnybrook, Dublin. Now commencing a career as a trainee accountant in Deloitte in Dublin, this very courageous young woman from Foxrock is quietly confident that the bobsleigh team will do well.

“The track is very fast, the fastest we have ever seen, but we aim to do
our best for Ireland,” she commented from the Team Ireland base in the Olympic Village.

“We hear that dozens of Irish fans from all over Canada and the USA are here to give us support. Also many people have travelled from Ireland. We cannot thank people enough for this amazing level of support”

The Irish Tricolour is fast becoming part of the highly colourful scene in
Whistler Village, with often open amazement and delight being expressed by the thousands of ski fans assembling there that Ireland is being represented at the Games.

Many of the Canadian fans have adopted a new slogan – Go Canada Go, Go Ireland Go – a slogan you now hear being regularly shouted out by excited fans thronging this superb ski resort.
