Fionnuala Britton (Kilcoole AC) achieved the Olympic A standard, clocking a time of 31:29.22 for the 10,000m at the 2012 Payton Jordon Cardinal Invitational on Sunday, 29th of April.
Britton ran strongly throughout the race and battled all the way to the line to claim third place, just ahead of Julie Bleasdale (31:29.57) of Great Britain.
The time put Britton comfortable inside the A standard for London (31:45), in what was a remarkable display of long distance running.
This superb performance places Britton fourth on the Irish all time list behind Irish greats Sonia O’Sullivan and Catherina McKiernan.
