Six Medals for Irish Rowers at Memorial Paolo d’Aloja International Regatta

In the first international competition of 2014 for Irish crews, six athletes were selected to represent Ireland at the Memorial Paolo d’Aloja International Regatta in Piediluco, Italy from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th April 2014.  The six selected athletes competed in four events: Heavyweight Women’s Double Scull: Eimear Moran (Three Castles RC) and Monika Dukarska

Dukarska and Kennedy impress

Ireland’s Monika Dukarska and Leonora Kennedy finished 10th overall at the World Rowing Championships in Korea with a solid fourth place in their B final. It was their first major event in this Olympic-class discipline. The United States crew of Meghan O’Leary and Ellen Tomek were impressive winners, seeing off Russia and the Ukraine, who were closest to them down the course.

Lisa Dilleen, one of Ireland best young rowers took a big step forward for Irish rowing when she stroked the Ireland four into an A final.
