Ireland’s Sarah Ennis and the Irish Sport Horse BLM Diamond Delux moved up one place during the final show jumping phase at Tattersalls Horse Trials this afternoon (Sunday) to finish fourth, but British rider Pippa Funnell maintained her lead with Billy Beware to take the three-star trophy.
A clear round from the 44 year-old Sussex eventer added zero faults to her overnight score of 47.6, but Meath-based Ennis incurred two time faults, ending on 55.1.
Australia’s Bill Levett and Improvise claimed the runner-up spot on a total of 52.5, while Funnell with her other mount, Billy Landretti, again went clear on the final phase to come home in third.
Two other Irish riders finished in the top ten at the Meath venue, with Shane Power and TLB Interactive going clear to take eighth place, while Mark Kyle and Just Otto had one time fault in show jumping to claim ninth position overall.
Australia’s Bill Levett went one place better in the George Mernagh Memorial CIC3* when winning the class with his own Silk Stone. Second place went to Great Britain’s Davis Doel riding Koyuna Sun Magic with best of the Irish going to Irish Olympian Mark Kyle riding Coolio in third.
Earlier in the day Co. Wexford rider Lucy Latta took first and third spot in the Dunboyne Castle Castle Hotel & Spa CCNP2* class with her horse Nono in pole position and Opan taking third. In second place was Tipperary’s Donnacha O’Brien with Ice Cool Bailey.
The Dubarry of Ireland sponsored CCIJ* class was won by Maria Byrne riding Ballygrangans Dolly ahead of Elizabeth Hayden and Miracle in second with Tintin Belsham and her mount Supreme Watts in third.
First, second and third places in the Connolly’s Red Mills CCI2* U25 class went to Great Britain with Dani Evans riding Smart Time winning the class, Millie Dumas and Artistiek in second and Holly Woodhead and DHI Luphison in third.
A clear in the show jumping phase of the Land Rover CCI1* class secured victory for Great Britain’s Ruth Edge and Blacklaw Thymelord ahead of previous Tattersalls winner William Fox-Pitt and Henton For Fun. In third place were Laura Collett and OBOS Cooley.
Great Britain’s Kitty King remained on her dressage score from the first phase of the completion to win the Eventing Ireland CCI2* riding Permission. Oliver Townend and Cooley Master Class finished up in second place with Japan’s Toshiyuki Tanakka and Pretty Darling CD in third.
Just one Irish rider finished in the top ten in this class, with Aoife Clark sixth on Imperial Trump on a score of 47.6.
