EOC 44th General Assembly Gets Underway In Prague

Prague, 20th November, 2015 – The European Olympic Family ended up in the Czech capital for it’s Annual General Meeting which begun today, under the leadership of President Hickey, in the presence of IOC President Thomas Bach, his predecessor, Honorary President Jacques Rogge and many IOC Members, including Mario Pescante, EOC Honorary President.

For a day and a half, delegations of the 50 NOCs and traditional friends and guests – organising committees of Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, First European Games In Baku, European Youth Olympic Festival, Games of the Small States of Europe , and this year, the delegations of the five candidate cities for the 2024 Olympics (Budapest, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome) and various sister organisations will take stock of activities implemented during 2015.

At the opening, sports Europe observed a minute of silence in memory of the sports personalities who have passed away during the year, and the many victims or terrorism that has hit the continent in the past weeks – Russians, Turks and French.

The 300 participants will have a heavy schedule during the day and the half, reports and many discussions on topical issues.

Prague’s assembly will vote the Best European Young Athlete of the year 2015, among the five athletes selected by the National Olympic Committees. The name of the winner is to be announced this evening, at the Prague Castle, the most important historical monument of the country, during the grand gala dinner that the Czech NOC is organising for the European Olympic Family.
