Gymnast of the Year McClenaghan shines at the 2019 Marsh Gymnastics Ireland National Awards
Rhys McClenaghan was named the Gymnast of the Year tonight at the 2019 Gymnastics Ireland National Awards in partnership with Marsh Ireland. Only last weekend McClenaghan made history by securing Irelands first podium finish at a World Gymnastics Championships by hitting bronze on pommel in Stuttgart in an historic day for Ireland. Other winners of the night included the 2019 Rising Star Jane Heffernan & Meg Ryan, Ireland’s first World Cup medallists in the Women’s Artistic discipline.
The night saw an array of gymnastic stars, VIPs and over 200 guests celebrating another huge year for the sport at the Radisson Blu, Golden Lane in Dublin.
Speaking about the event, CEO of Gymnastics Ireland said: “Another huge year with record growth in membership and participants in our national events programme topped off with Rhys McClenaghan securing our first world medal – what a year! Roll on Olympic year 2020”
The National Awards is an event designed to reward all those stand out performers and contributors to the sport of Gymnastics throughout the year.
