Hession sets new 300m record

Wariner’s 31.72 seconds failed to beat Michael Johnson‘s world mark (30.85), but Hession was the only other one to break 33 seconds and fourth-placed Paul McKee (33.33) also broke Gordon Kennedy‘s 33.36 Irish record.

David Gillick had a good run, equalling his season best of 45.65 when second to training partner Martyn Rooney (45.37).

Alistair Cragg showed improved form when running 13:16.12 and finishing 14th in the 5000m, won by Eliud Kipchoge in 13:02.06.

But Derval O’Rourke was only sixth in 13:06 seconds in the sprint hurdles won by America‘s Lolo Jones in 12.68.
