The representatives from the Organising Committees for the Games in Beijing, Vancouver, London and Sochi, and the delegates for the 2009 (Slask-Beskidy and Tampere) and 2011 (Liberec and Trabzon) European Youth Olympic Festivals provided update information on their activities, as well as the many experts from the International Olympic Committee, the World Anti Doping Agency and various other Olympic partners.
The key themes addressed at the meeting, which was held in the presence of President Patrick Hickey and the Executive Committee, were the 2008 and 2010 Olympic Games, Olympic marketing, the fight against doping and the EYOF, together with detailed information on the new Youth Olympic Games Dynamic and fruitful discussion also took place during the Sorrento seminar (the first to be organised according to the new format requested by the Members) particularly for what concerned some issues still to be addressed before the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Games.
Concern was also expressed on a very strict enforcement of the WADA regulations concerning the athletes’ whereabouts.
At the end of the seminar, delegates had a chance to relax in the sun of the Neapolitan coast. Next seminar will be held in Dubrovnik, in spring 2009, upon invitation by the Croatian NOC.
