Irvine signs for Pro team

Two days after winning two silver medals at track cycling’s World Cup in Glasgow, Martyn Irvine was yesterday confirmed to have signed up with the American UnitedHealthcare cycling team.

The 27-year-old London Olympian was one of eight signings announced, and joins fellow Irishman Philip Deignan. who was part of the team last year.

“I’m  excited to race for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling next year,” said Irvine. “I’ve committed a lot of time to the track in recent years and I’m so happy that this team has given me a chance to show what I’m capable of. ”

It is hoped that Irvine can continue to perform at a highest level, as evidenced by his career-best silver medals in the scratch race and individual pursuit last weekend.
