London 2012 Seminar

Ireland were represented at the first worldwide London 2012 Chef de Mission Seminar last week, by Sonia O’Sullivan , Dermot Sherlock and Stephen Martin.

The seminar included updates and discussion on all aspects of the London Olympic Games.

Delegates also had the opportunity to access the Olympic Villages in London and Weymouth, and sports competition venues including the Boxing Arena in the Excel Centre.

OCI representatives met up with the sports of Triathlon , Badminton, Road Cycling and Sailing  to observe their test events.

Triathlon, and Road Cycling were based at the Lensbury/ St marys training sites and accomodation, whilst Badminton visited the St Marys site for practice post their World Championships at Wembley Arena.

The Olympic Village will accomodate 16,000 athletes and team officials. The village is located in Stratford in east London and in close proximity to Olympic Park and other central London venues.

Athletes competing in Rowing and Sailing will have seperate villages near their competition venues at Eton Dorney and Weymouth.
