Jack Doyle competed in the individual and team showjumping at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, riding Hardly, qualifying for the final rounds in what Chef d'Equipe Billy Ringrose described as a 'creditable performance over a very difficult series of courses', before finishing 20th in the individual final with 24.75 penalties.
The Irish showjumping team at Seoul was the first all-professional team to represent Ireland at the Olympics, following the IOC's decision in 1986 to allow professional riders.
Following the conclusion of a succesful riding career, Doyle went on to coach the next generation of showjumping athletes.
