Pat Hickey was in Romania on Tuesday 27 September as President of the European Olympic Committee to attend the official opening of the new Headquarters and Olympic and Sports Museum of the Romanian Olympic Committee (COSR). The opening ceremony was attended by the Romanian President – Traian Basescu and President of the International Olympic Committee – Dr Jacques Rogge along with many other sporting figures.
At the end of the ceremony they planted five pins in the courtyard of the new headquarters, after which all the guests made a tour of the House of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Museum. The ceremony ended with a news conference by President COSR, Octavian Morariu, Jacques Rogge and Patrick Hickey, Patrick Hickey “wished every success to the Romanian athletes for the Olympic Games in London 2012”.
