OCI at Wreath Laying Ceremony of former Executive Committee Member – Agnes Toohey

The Olympic Council of Ireland, Executive Committee held a wreath laying ceremony at Mount Jerome Cemetery today in honour of the late Agnes Toohey who passed away earlier this year.    Some family, friends and students of Agnes from the Fencing world were present at the ceremony.   Agnes devoted much time and energy to coaching young fencers many of whom represented Ireland over the years.    She also used her extensive knowledge and expertise in dress designing to choose materials and supervise the style of Parade Uniforms worn by the Irish Olympic Teams up to the Atlanta Olympic Comes in 1996.  Long time Olympic friend Fr Brendan Mc Hale, of the Columban Fathers officiated at the ceremony and special tributes were made by President – Pat Hickey and Honorary General Secretary – Dermot Sherlock.
