OCI delegation to Baku

The Baku 2015 Organising Committee are hosting a number of National Olympic Committees to assist their preparations for next years Games (12th – 28th June 2015).

Over the next few days an OCI delegation, led by Chef de Mission Dermot Henihan, will be joined by NOC groups from GB, Italy, Russia, Norway and Montenegro.

The Baku 2015 European Games will be the first ever major multi-sport event for the entire continent.

The European Games will will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, and bring together more than 6,000 of the continent’s finest athletes over 17 days of competition, in an exciting range of traditional and innovative sports.

All members of the European Committees have been invited to attend and compete in Azerbaijan’s capital city Baku, situated on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

The Games were designed and are to be regulated by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) and run with the support of the Baku 2015 European Games Operation Committee (BEGOC).

Baku was awarded the honour of being the first host of the Games at the 41st EOC General Assembly in Rome, on 8 December 2012.

The European Games will take place every four years thereafter, with the next competition due to be held in 2019.
