Team Ireland Chef de Mission Kevin Kilty held an informative Rio 2016 Conference for Team Leaders and Coaches as part of the Olympic Council of Ireland’s engagement process with National Federation High Performance staff.
He was accompanied by the OCI HQ and Medical personnel Stephen Martin, Martin Burke, Rod McLoughlin, Aidan Woods, Giles Warrington, Ciara Losty and Sharon Madigan.
The agenda on the 9th/10th October covered a range of items including:
Key priorities post London 2012 , Rio 2016 presentation and recce updates, sports programme and test events scheduling, New Balance performance, training, recovery,village , and ceremony clothing , OCI HQ/Medical and Team Accreditation process, minimizing pressure points pre – during and post Games issues , the Rio 2016 Athlete Transition programme (Phil Moore IIS) , medical issues and service provision, pre-games training camps, future visits and priorities, and sessions on team leadership principles and the importance of continuing to develop a positive performance environment.
Over the two days 54 National Federation team leaders and coaches joined the OCI HQ and Medical Team, along with key representatives from the ISC, IIS and Olive Loughnane from the OCI Athlete Commission.
Next up:December 5th,6th 2014 – the Olympic Council of Ireland led Science and Medical Conference “Optimizing Health to Maximize Performance” for up to 60 service providers working within Olympic Sport High Performance Plans.
