RIP to Denis Sugrue 1948 Olympian

It is with sad regret that the death has occurred of Denis Sugrue, UCD and Old Collegians Boat Clubs and cox of the 1948 Ireland Olympic VIII.

This was Ireland’s first international rowing crew.
Denis and his wife Helen were your guests at the OCI Olympic lunch at Farmleigh in 2013.

The OCI will represented at the funeral by Dermot Sherlock Hon. General Secretary and Peadar Casey Treasurer.

Funeral Mass for Denis is on Monday 28th July at 1000 in St.Theresa’s Church, Trentvale, Stoke on Trent, Staffs. UK

On July 23, 2014, at his home in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Loving and beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Only son of the late Capt. Timothy Sugrue MC and Bar, BL, and younger son of the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Babe) Sugrue.
Formerly Hon. Consultant Plastic Surgeon, The Children’s Hospital, Temple Street, Dublin and The International Missionary Training Hospital, Drogheda, Co. Louth.
