Athletics: Joanne Cuddihy qualified for the semi final of the woman’s 400 metresafter finishing fourth in her heat this morning.

The 28-year-old finished in a time of 52.09, which was enough for her to progress as the second fastest non-qualifier.

Sailing: Annalise Murphy finished second in the Laser Radial, race 7 and tenth in Race 8. For the first time in the competition, Murphy has lost the overall lead.She is now second on 24 points, with Van Acker first on 23 points. Marit Bouwmeester is third on 26 and Xu of China fourth on 30.

Sailing: In the Star Class, Peter O’Leary and David Burrows qualified for the medal race in 9th place.They will contest the medal race on Sunday.

Sailing: Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern finished 14th in Race 9 of the 49er class, 7th in race 10 and 15th in Race 11, lying 11th overall with four races to go.

Sailing: in the 470 Ger Owens and  Scott Flanigan lie 25th overall.

Sailing: In the Laser james Espey lies in 38th overall.

Athletics:  Ciaran O’Lionaird finished 13th in the third Heat of the 1,500m.

Athletics: Fionnula Britton finished 15th in the 10,000m, 1min 26secs behind gold medal winner Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba who successfully defended her title.

Boxing: Michael Conlan overcame Ghana’s Duke Micah on a 19-8 scoreline. The Belfast man is due to fight again on Tuesday night.

Boxing: Adam Nolan was beaten in the welterweight division by Russia’s Andrey Zamkovoy 18-9  in the Round of 16.
