Sailing Gold for Murphy

Annalise Murphy won Gold at the Delta Lloyd Regatta in Medemblik, Netherlands. She led the medal race from the first mark finishing with almost a one minute lead.

This Gold medal win at the weekend is the second Gold for Annalise this month.

She won Gold on 12 May at Italian Olympic Week.

Murphy went in to the medal race in third place two points behind Alison Young (GBR) and the London 2012 Silver medallist Marit Bouwemester (NED) and London 2012 Gold medallist Lijia Xu (CHN) who had to settle with sixth place.

After the race Annalise commented “I got so far ahead I didn’t have to worry. I had a good week and am happy with my performance.”

Commenting on today’s win ISA Performance Director James O’Callaghan stated: “It was very tight on points and to come through such a close competition in a strong Olympic field will give Annalise great confidence.”
