The Olympic Council of Ireland are saddened to learn of the death of Sir Christopher Bland who represented Ireland at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. Even though Sir Christopher went on to have a highly successful career in politics and business including chairman, both of the BBC and London Weekend Television (LWT), and deputy chairman of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) he always remained a great supporter of fencing in Ireland.
He will be sadly missed. RIP.
