Sports Science and Medical Conference

The Olympic Council of Ireland in collaboration with the Irish Institute of Sport will be holding a Science and Medical Conference in the Grand Hotel Malahide on the 6th-7th December 2013. This is part of a coordinated professional development programme for the 2013-16 Olympic Cycle.
The 65 practitioners attending are actively involved in Olympic high performance sport support programmes with National Federations, Institutes and Olympic Council/Team Ireland Games support.

 

 

 

The Conference theme is “Promoting a Multi-disciplinary Approach to Service Delivery”

Key Outcomes:
• Bringing the medical and science community together (core service providers)
• Sharing of knowledge and information
• Showing case leading practice
• Promoting a multi/inter-disciplinary approach to service delivery
• Getting a “buy in” from the medical and science community
• Identifying issues and strategies for Rio 2016 and other major Games
• Agreeing a programme and key dates up to Rio 2016

Friday 6th December

The format for Day 1 will be an interactive workshop working through two case studies to draw out disciplinary and interdisciplinary learning. Participants will receive two case study materials fortnight ahead of the conference to facilitate high quality interaction on the day.

Saturday 7th December

The format of day 2 will be to draw out the positive lessons learned at the London 2012 Games and to focus on the planning and preparation for Rio 2016. There will be a strong degree of group interaction in the session from an individual and multi-disciplinary perspective.
