About Archery

Archery is contested over long distances with a recurve bow, in individual and team formats for both men and women, with a mixed team event added more recently.

Matches are decided by a knockout format after a ranking round, making it one of the more tension-filled sports to watch, often coming down to a handful of arrows shot under intense pressure. Ireland has fielded archers at several Games since the 1980s, most consistently at Seoul 1988, when three Irish archers competed.
