The Olympic Council of Ireland have been working with Rio 2016 and National Performance Directors (NPD’s) on all matters Rio 2016. Following the success of the Olympic 4 year games operational strategy for London the OCI, NPD’s and ISC met recently to investigate some specific areas for Rio.
The OCI gave updates on the 2016 competition venue and village set up, summarized the critical success factors for multi sport training camps based on recent London experiences, and discussed the critical timeline and operational plan for , in particular for a multi sport training camp strategy and timeline 2013-16.
London plans provided opportunities for test event experiences and this too will be factored in. Very few sports have had an experince of competing in Rio and NPD’s are exploring options for the 2014-16 period in particular. The current desk top research and Rio 2016 / NPD consultation exercises will shape a recce to Rio early 2013 to narrow down options for pre Games and Games time strategies.
