The opening was just like the senior Olympic ceremony. It began with solemn introduction of all the teams, starting with Greece, and ending with Poland – as the host of this event . Polish and Olympic flags are flying. The solemn vow on behalf of the players was given by Magdalena Kozielska, Polish runner, and on behalf of the judges – by Marek Tucznio.
“I hope It’s going to be a great fest of the European’s Youth” – said the chairman of the Organization Comity, Tadeusz Pilarz. On behalf of the EOC the speech was given by Patrick Hickey, its president. “I hope that most of you will represent your countries at the Olympics”, he said.
The greatest moment of the ceremony was lighting the Olympic torch. Piotr Fijas, a well-deserved Olympian from Beskidy, was honored to do it.
Obviously, there was a fun part, too. Polish folk-pop band “Golec uOrkiestra” gave a concert. Their hits provoke a huge euphoria in the gathered crowd. Everyone, regardless of the nationality, had a great fun.
The fest goes on. Now the time has come for sport competitions. First games starts tomorrow, Monday 16th
