Kellie Harrington is the first Irish boxer to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals, taking the lightweight title at both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
At Tokyo 2020 she won gold with a unanimous decision over Brazil's Beatriz Ferreira in the final, and carried the Irish flag at the opening ceremony. At Paris 2024 she defended the title, winning the final against China's Yang Wenlu by split decision.
Harrington won silver at the 2016 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in the light welterweight division. Moving to lightweight, she won gold at the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, bronze at the 2018 European Championships and silver at the 2019 European Games.
She is from Portland Row in Dublin's and boxes with St Mary's Boxing Club. She is known for her community involvement in the north inner city and for her work in animal welfare.
