Samuel ‘Sam’ Moore

Sam Moore competed as goalkeeper in the water polo competition at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games, where Ireland lost their sole match 11-1 to Belgium.

Despite the scoreline, Moore excelled himself in goal, making a number of quality saves against one of the leading water polo teams in the world.

A member of the East End Club in Belfast, Moore brought experience and quality to the position throughout the match.
